Outfield Velo Throw-Off: A Small-Sided Radar Competition to Boost Throwing Velocity
A head-to-head, radar-scored competition where outfielders field a ball, crow-hop, and fire on a line through a target gate. The bracket format turns max-intent throwing into a game so players chase their peak outfield throwing velocity rep after rep.
⏱ ~30 min📋 After a baseline, 3-4 competitive rounds of 3 crow-hop throws per player (~9-12 max-intent throws total), with recovery while teammates throw; finish with a best-of-3 championship round.
What you'll need
- Radar device or app (Pocket Radar, Stalker, Rapsodo, or phone radar)
- Net or screen target with a marked gate
- Bucket of 6-10 baseballs or 12-inch softballs
- Cones or tape (to mark the gate and fielding spot)
- Resistance band / tubing (arm care)
- Whiteboard or phone (to post velo and run the bracket)
