Resisted-Band Catcher Framing: The Overload Receive-and-Stick Drill
An overload/underload framing drill for catchers: a light resistance band anchored to the glove wrist makes the receive-and-present move work against tension, then band-off "underload" reps feel light, fast, and quiet - building the wrist and forearm control that steals borderline pitches and raises framing strike percentage.
⏱ ~20 min📋 3-4 resisted sets of 8 receives (rotate low / glove-side / arm-side edges), then 1 band-off underload set of 8-10 reps, then a 10-pitch blind-call block; full reset between reps
What you'll need
- Light mini resistance band (lightest tension only)
- Catcher's mitt and full catching gear
- Strike-zone net or taped strike-zone frame
- Baseballs or softballs (a bucket)
- Fixed low anchor point (fence base or net post)
- Phone + tripod for umpire's-eye video (optional)
